Was there an instance you ask yourself what makes up the Philippine gastronomy? What about explaining to your foreign friends the intricate mixture of authentic Filipino dishes? As a Filipino, it could be rather daunting to tell someone(who had 0 knowledge) about the heritage of our own culinary. And, that’s totally fine!
In Brussels, a yearly Philippine Food Festival is organized not only to cater to the Filipino community in Belgium but essentially to introduce to the west the mysterious combination of tastes that’s truly one of a kind. This one-day event features the culinary specialties of the Pampanga region which is themed, Manyaman! (It translates as delicious.).
Most of the time having someone taste the food works way better than just simply describing it. So if you’re one of the many Filipinos who have a hard time describing our Filipino dishes to foreign locals, this event makes a perfect timing to bring them along and enjoy the delicacies. In this way, we open them up to our very own culture that might be complex yet rich in character.
Thus, what to expect in the Philippine Food Festival in Brussels? As anticipated there will be Lechon, Kare-Kare, Halo-Halo, Adobo, San Miguel beers, fresh Philippine Mangoes, and much more on the table. Some Filipino cooking masters and professionals will be happy to share their expertise and local ingredients they use for their recipes.
